Closure of Wooden Bridge

Dublin Port tell us that the Wooden Bridge at Dollymount will close to traffic on 7 January next for a period of 12 weeks for essential maintenance. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians.

A recent survey
of the Wooden Bridge - the current bridge dates back to 1906 - revealed that the upright piles of the bridge are sound, but most of the cross beams fixed on top of the piles and support the deck of the bridge, require replacement. Most of the decking and the railings also require replacement.

Dublin Port are in contact with the Group and other residents on the island to put in place arrangements to try to minimise disruption while the works are ongoing.
