Jamboree 2008

Some 40 scouts from the Valkyrie Troop together with scouts and cubs from the Wednesday Troop and Monday and Tuesday Packs were among the 10,000 or so scouts and cubs from Ireland and around the world who attended centenary Jamboree in Punchestown from 2 to 10 August.

It being Ireland, it rained, then it rained some more and then it absolutely monsooned rain! Nevertheless, all enjoyed the Jamboree experience.

'Sea Stallion' sets sail

 Three of our skiff crews braved driving rain and Force 7 squalls - although you wouldn't think it from the photos - to wish the 'Sea Stallion' bon voyage on its return trip to Denmark. Our three skiffs were only a small part of a large flotilla of boats of all sizes which turned out to escort the impressive Viking ship to sea.

Well done to all our crews who handled the skiffs very well under very unforgiving conditions. To use a well worn cliche - it was character building stuff!
